9x12 Envelope

Hi there, everybody.

I just started sending fan mail again (haven't done it in awhile) and I'm wondering if I messed up. I sent two requests today. For my SASE for each one the size was 9x12. I had them weighed empty and was told they would cost 92 cents each to mail. So I put two stamps on each one and then put them inside the bigger envelopes to mail. But I forgot to consider the weight of the photos. I sent one photo with each request and they weren't very big so I guess what I'm trying to ask is do you think 92 cents will cover the cost for the SASEs if and when they come back? I am in the U.S. and they are staying in the U.S., if that makes any difference?

The general rule of thumb is to put the same amount of postage on the SASE as you put on the original envelope. For me, I always do 3 Forever Stamps on each.

I can't say for sure what will happen, because each postal employee has a different opinion on whether these constitute packages.

But for future reference, 3 Forever stamps hasn't steered me wrong yet.

To add on to what MW1221 said, the padded 9x12 envelopes I've used in the past usually require more than 3 stamps. I always take mine to the post office just to check with an employee and let them take care of the stamps. Atleast you've caught your mistake! Best of luck to you.
