So I want to surprise 2 of my friends by having them receive a signed picture from someone they both are huge fans of. Would it be improper to include 2 SASEs with their addresses on them and ask them to put one photo (that I'd supply) in each envelope?

Depending who it is it might work, but I would also think it might increase the chances of things going wrong. Would it not be easier to have the SASE sent to you, and then you post them on to your friends?

That's another option. I might just do that, and put the celebs return addy instead of mine. The only thing is that the postmark wouldn't line up, so they might not believe it's legit if I sent them.

I think you're overthinking this. Write to the celeb, get them back. Then send it on to your friends, with a note/card/whatever from yourself inside. They'll open it, see the signed item, see who it's from and think it's cool.
