Writting a letter

Unread post by agatka.czar »

Hi, I would like to start collecting autographs. The problem is, that I don't know anything about it. Can you give my some advices? Especially, how to write the letter. Well, I'm not a good at it. My english is also not so good and I'm afraid. I would also like to know what to do to make my letter special. Add drawings or maybe write silver letters on black paper? Generally, what to do to be succeed in getting signed photos.
I hope you understand, what I'm writing about... Oh, and is it possible that star won't sign the photo or answer if I'm under 18?
Thanks already for all answers :) it really means a lot to me. Could you give an example of such letter?

This really doesn't belong in feedback, but here is a bit of advice. If you are truly a fan seeking an autograph, you don't really need a template. Just write from the heart, tell them your a fan, tell them why, and tell them you would appreciate if they would sign the enclosed photo for you. It's not really a difficult task.

Don't worry about your English. There are millions of fans that don't speak or write English perfectly, and for a great many of them it's their first language. :)

Also, don't worry about your age. They don't know your age unless you tell them. In fact, I'd think they might be more inclined to sign if you were younger, being that your most likely not trying to make a profit off their signature.

Good luck with your collecting.

Hello agatka.czar and welcome to fanmaiz.biz! I myself am under 18 years of age and started collecting through the mail back in september 2011. Even though I am under 18, I have received over 400 autographs from a wide variety of celebrities: from actors to football players.
Personally, I use normal white lined paper and write the letter by hand, this shows you have spent time and effort writing the letter. Sometimes I create my own coloured envelopes to make it stand out from the other fanmail the celebrity receives. I found this to be very successful with a number of fabulous people such as bobby charlton, ensuring I am more likely to get something back.
Something else on your mind will be 'do I send my own photo?'. Well personally I rarely send my own photo or item but this is down to personal preference. I just request that the celebrity sends me a signed photo as most celebrities have a load of photos avaliable to sign.
In the actual letter, I firstly state that I am a massive fan, then I state why I am such a fan. Maybe it is a certain role they played which you love or they are a fantastic sports person. Make sure to give lots of nice comments about their work.
Then say how you would love a signed photo or you would love them to sign your photo because you are a huge fan.
After this thank them for taking the time to read your letter and say from (then your name). This helps them to persoanalise your item.
I hope I have been of some help to you
Best of luck and happy hunting!
