Firstly, I apologise if this post gets long, but I need to get this off my chest..
I have never been able to pluck up the courage to say this before, (this may sound a little cheesy coming from a 14 year old), but I am not just your average 14 year old who sees Sarah Michelle Gellar as a sex symbol, she is a role model to me. A while ago, I read some quotes and facts about/from her and it basically revealed that she has had some personal problems in the past. Although I won't go into detail on here, I have experienced similar personal/family problems over the past 5 years and I think that it is remarkable that she has reached the top of her career despite these issues. Needless to say I want to follow her lead in my chosen profession(sp?) I wanted to combine this with an autograph request via-venue. My main question is how do I write the letter so that it doesn't just sound like I am sucking up for an autograph? And, once again, this may sound wierd coming from a 14 year old but, when I discovered that Dallas_S did the same thing with Britney, I gained the courage to think about doing this. My biggest fear is that she will think that I am making it up to get an auto when I actually mean it. I decided I would write to her at the Alice address, because it may have more chance of being read by her, which starts filming in August I believe. I heard though that she gets a representative to open her via-venue fanmail because she can't be bothered with it. Although that was just a rumour, does anyone know if it is true? If it is, because of the personal nature, I may not send it. Last question, if she can see that the letter is heartfelt would I be more likely to get a reply?
I will request the Alice address at a later date. Once again I apologise for the length of the post and thanks for reading.

Hi acwilliams
It can be difficult writing such letters, but what you need to do is write it so it doesn't go over the top.
Additionally, don't make the letter sound as if you know too much about her life that it can sound like borderline stalking.
Since you say that you read some quotes and facts about her, perhaps you could start off by introducing yourself, and say that you're writing to her because you read an article (or wherever you read the info from) recently and then say something about how you went through something similar in your life.
Then, go on to say how much she is a role model to you and why. Obviously, don't forget to ask for an autograph, and since you're writing via venue - try to include something for her to sign.
It's best if you make a draft or two, and then read over it carefully to see whether it's suitable to send to her. If you can, get someone else to read over it and see whether it's too personal. Make any adjustments as required and send it off when ready.
Whatever you do, don't be disappointed if you only receive a PP from SFM, or nothing at all.
Good luck!

That's great advice from nowandagain
All I would suggest is that you keep a copy of the letter you send, in case you don't get a success this time.
I think it is great, and you definately should give it a go, but I would suggest holding a copy of the letter and trying via her agent if your venue attempt doesn't work out.
However, in both respects you will need to realise that in all probability somebody else will more than likely open her post for her and just pass on the "interesting" stuff
and deal with the more mundane / standard autograph requests for her.
Good luck though whatever you decide to do {thumb2}

nowandagain: Don't worry, I don't know too much
but I have noticed quotes and general info from more than one biography. Thanks for the support.
TheCollector: Thanks for the support, although I'm not that keen on your new avatar. It should be:
