question/SASE-related

Okay...so yesterday I was at the post office trying to send off envelopes addressed to celebs,...along with SASE's inside. And I was at the machine weighing them... figuring I needed to weigh the SASE on its own,...and then weigh the celebrity-addressed envelope with the SASE in it. But ppl at the post office were trying to tell me "well if there's nothing in the envelope you can't send it b/c you don't know how much it's going to weigh". Obviously these ppl didn't understand that all I'm waiting for a celeb to send me is a picture!
So... I may as well ask everyone here at the forum.... how many stamps do I need for...
8.5X11 Inc. envelope (the one that is the SASE).
...and am I correct to asume that I'll just pay for whatever postage costs to send an 10.5X15 Inc. with the SASE envelope in it?

If you are in the US sending to the US I always put 63 cent stamps on my SASE and my envelope with letter and SASE I use a 39cent stamp. If you have a long letter that is over a few pages it might be 39 cent. I usuaully go when I have a bunch and have them weighed and it is just at the weight before the next higher amount. For SASE 63 is enough unless you are expecting lots of photos in it. But for 1 pic back, that has always been enough for me.

Good luck!! Let us know if you have any other questions.
