Sending a letter...

Unread post by firefan »

I have one other question about contacting an actress.

1.) Is it a good idea to send a request letter for an autograph and no picture or SASE, just a letter??

Would i get a reply back, or does it decrease my chances of getting a reply back??

Thanks for the help!!! :D 8) {up}

Hi firefan :D

Welcome to the forum!!

You can send a request letter for an autograph with no picture or SASE.

However, this may decrease your chance of receiving a reply because you have not paid for return postage, and the actress may not wish to pay for the postage to send something back to you (or the many hundreds or thousands of others who haven't bothered to include a SASE).

I would recommend at the minimum include a SASE with your request (preferably a larger SASE to accomodate larger photos).

Good luck!

You should send SASE although some celebrities don´t need it :D

Hi guys {up}

I would always supply a SASE or a SAE with a couple of IRC's :wink:

I have tried it both ways, and the response if you send an SASE, is tons better.

A year or so ago I did a small experiment!!!! First I sent out 50 requests with just a letter and SAE inside (no return postage) and I got about 6 back.

A couple of months later I mailed again to exactly the same 50, but this time I supplied SASE's with each one. The result? I got back 44 if the 50.

My advice then? Always send return postage if possible :D

This may sound dumb but could you just send a letter and include enough postage inside the letter so the celebrity can use their own envelope?

Hi KJ {up}

Welcome to the forum :P

I suppose you could try your method, but all I will say is that you need to make the whole process as easy as possible for the celeb to respond :wink:

If you don't include a return envelope, then the celeb has to find one, and write your address on it, and stick your stamps on it etc. I am not saying they won't do this (eventually) but in my opinion you will severely decrease your chances!

I agree, but obtaining the envelope addressed by the celebrity could mean as much as f.e. autographed photo :wink:

Paul.
