Hey guys, I'm new to this whole website and I would like to know if these signatures are actually real...
If anyone has received a real signature from someone well known please could you tell me asap.

Is there anyone who got their photos back signed?? :razz:

Well to answer your first question; yes some sigs are actually real. These celebs have free time during them filming movies, being on Broadway and being on tour, so they sign some fan mail. A lot of members here have received real photos before from famous people. Everyone from Taylor Swift, Jim Parsons, to Beyonce, to Kesha, to Russell Crowe.

If you are gonna get into this hobby: two things I wanna tell you: don't be delusional (about something being fake) and you NEED to have patents. This hobby can take months and even years and that is the God's truth.

I'm not sure if you are younger or not, but a lot of the Disney stars that use to sign authentically don't sign anymore because they get too much mail and they will send PP's out. a "PP" is a pre-print which is a COPY of an autograph.

So you don't waste your postage, it would be good to ask if the people that you want actually sign because you wouldn't wanna waste your postage because like I already said, some celebs don't sign fan mail.

Also here is a list of the abbreviations that we use around here:

8x10 & 3x5 = Size of the photo in inches.
ALS = Autographed letter written and signed by the star
ANS = A short note written and signed by the star
AP = Short for Autopen (see below)
Autopen = A machine that duplicates a person's signature.
BCS = Business Card Signed
BW, B/W, etc... = Black & White
C = Color
CL = Cover Letter
CSP = Color Signed Photo
COA = Certificate of Authenticity
I or P = Inscribed or Personalized
IC = Index Card
ICS = Index Card Signed
IP = An autograph obtained in person.
IPS = Inscribed Signed Photograph
IRC = International Reply Coupon. These are used when requesting autographs from foreign countries. You put them inside of your SASE to cover the cost of postage back to you. Purchase them at your post office.
ISP = Inscribed Signed Photograph
ISPC = Inscribed Signed PostCard
LOR = Letter Of Request
MOC = Member of Congress
MOH = Medal of Honor
PP = Pre-Print/Facsimile -Often photocopied, or electronicaly duplicated.
RTS = Return to Sender - Unable to forward, refused, incomplete address, etc.
SAE = Self Addressed EnvelopeSAG = Screen Actor's Guild
SASE = Self-Addressed, Stamped Envelope
SC = Signed Card
SIC = Signed Index Card
SP = Signed Photo, no inscription
SPC = Signed PostCard
SPI = Inscribed signed photo.
STC = Signed Trading Card
TC = Trading Card
TTM = Through The Mail
UACC = Universal Autograph Collector's Club
VV = Via Venue

Just a quick update. Royal Mail no longer sell International Reply Coupons. If you are including a SASE for an autographed item from someone in America you will have to include the correct amount of Global Forever USA stamps for it to return to you in the UK. Inexplicably Royal Mail don't sell these either (well definitely not from their website). I buy mine from a New York based eBay seller where they work out cheaper than the retail price.
As for SASE envelopes you want returning from EU countries, you would have to include the correct amount of stamps that pertain to that country. I'm not sure if UK Post Offices sell stamps from other EU countries, but there's no sign of them on the Royal Mail website. So my guess is they probably don't. In which case my first port of call would be eBay. Hope this helps.

Pretty much everyone here, you'll need to do your own research if you're serious, right now I'm suspecting you're either over excited and just coming into the hobby or you're just fishing for easy autographs.

With such a first post it's hard not to assume the latter.

Again, you'll need to research - of course people get their photographs back signed, this is exactly why this forum exists.

A small tip if you're indeed a legitimate collector and not somebody who just wants the easy autographs - anything SFM (StudioFanMail) is a print and not real. - Whilst you may be able to obtain these entirely free, it is not what the main collectors are looking for.

Best of luck, but right now I'm sincerely in doubt you'll respond to your own thread but I hope you do prove me wrong.
