ADVICE ON OBTAINING TTM FROM USA PLEASE.

Unread post by SnapShots2015 »

Ok. I'm UK based. I'm thinking about requesting an autograph on an A4 photo from someone in the USA.

The SASE will be 9"x 12.8" in size. It is has a stiff cardboard backing so it can't be bent. According to the USPS website, this means it has to be sent as a package. I've used there Delivery Calculator and the cheapest option is First-Class Package International Service at $10.20. I have some Global USA Forever 2014 stamps that will cover this cost.

USPS states that all packages must have (in this case) a USPS Customs Declaration - CN22 attached to it, (see below).
These can be completed and printed off from the USPS website as I have done.
I would then attach this to my SASE. The only additional thing that needs to be done before postage is that the CN22 needs signing and dating by the sender.

My query is, as we're supposed to make sending our photos back to us as easy as possible for the celebrity, do you think having to sign and date the CN22 would put the celebrity off responding altogether?
Has anyone had any experience with these forms and had any successes or problems with them?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to spend so much on postage only to fall at the last hurdle with this CN22 date and signature requirement.
Many thanks in advance.
