Via Venue.... When's the best time to send?

I was thinking of sending an letter to someone on a movie set and the movie starts in Sept. When would be the best time to send it, in order to increase my chances of getting a response and/or making sure it gets there on time? Now? A few days before the movie starts? Beginning of filming? Middle? End? Or does it even matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :D

Hey Sharkie... if you go to IMDB.COM and look up the name of the movie, I would wait until it says they are "filming". When they are in "Pre Production" a lot of times they are still casting the movie and the stars have very little to do with that, if any. So I would keep an eye on when it actually "starts filming" and then send it off. I have had quite a few successes via venue that way! Best of luck to ya!

Hi Sharkie :D

With film sets, you could send a request any time in between filming dates. I would advise that it's best to send off right when they've begun filming to have the best chance of being replied to.

So, if you wanted to send to a specific actor on set, work out when they're filming and address to send your request to. See Current and Upcoming Productions for a list of addresses and dates ... or do your own research.

Then, its just a matter of sending your request off to the set when filming begins ... not before. For example, if filming begins on 1 September, aim to have it arrive after the 1st.

Good luck!!

However IMDB aren't great at updating. I would follow the dates set on this site. If you are sending to a movie which films in September I would send in the last week of August

It always depends on the celebrity and the venue.

If it's a concert and the artist will only be at the venue for a day or two I make sure my VV request arrives at the venue no later than 2 days prior to the show.

If it's a movie or a theatre play that runs for several weeks/month I tend to send out my VV request about 2-3 weeks prior the end of the filming/play since most collectors send out their requests right when the filming/play began and the celebrity will be flooded with fanmail in the first 2 weeks.

Best,
Stephan

So you're saying send towards the end of filming instead of when it begins? Ive never thought of that...
