Do you think 2 x 0.39$ is enough?

Unread post by Volante »

Hey I just have this little question...

Until now I've always put stamps for 0.84$ (different values) on my USA SASEs. Since I now got 39 cent stamps I wonder if two of these are enough to send from USA to Sweden? The postage price is 0.84, but is it different when they are 0.39? I mean, I think they are so called First Class stamps even if it doesn't have that text on them.

Are two 0.39$ first class US stamps enough to send to europe? It's the lowest price class I was thinking of, up to 1 ounce.

Does anyone know? :) Thanks

Dear Volante,

according to the USPS an airmail letter of 1 ounce costs US $0.84.

You can view the list here: http://ircalc.usps.gov/intl_speed.asp?CID=10411&MailType=envelope&Pounds=0&Ounces=1

Two US $0.39 stamps wouldn't be enough and you risk that your letter might not get back to Sweden.

Best,
Stephan

2 X .39 Cent stamps will not be enough to send an one ounce letter from the USA to Sweden. The cost is .84 cents to send a letter from the USA overseas. So the stamps must add up to .84 cents or more. Two .39 cent stamps only add up to .78 cents. You would be .06 cents short. However, if you add some .02 or .05 cent "make-up stamps" it would be fine. Just make sure that the stamp values add up to .84 cents or more, because otherwise, the post office will RTS it. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for your fast answers! :)

I had a feeling it wouldn't be enough either, since I knew the cost is 0.84$. I just wanted to ask since I got in this situation with FC 39$ stamps.

I'll just add three of them on every SASE! =)
