First Time Sending

Unread post by dtrain123 »

Hi,
I just joined this site and it is really great. I am getting ready to send my first letter and autograph request. I read the forums and I found out that I need to send a letter, SASE, and photos for the celebrity to sign. The first celebrity I am going to try is Carrie Underwood. Here are a few questions that I have before I send my requests.

1. SASE or SAE . . . which one should I use?
2. What kind of paper should I use if I want to print 8x10 photos I get from the internet?

I would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions. :D

Welcome to the site dtrain123!

You do not need to send a photo.

You should send a SASE ( self addressed stamped envelope) with your request. Some celebs do not sign with out one.

& if your going to print a picture out, you should use high quality glossy photo paper. You can usually find this kind of paper at the dollar store. You could also send the picture to walmart or another store to be printed out.

goodluck! {up}

Welcome to fanmail dtrain123!! :D

1. A SAE is a self addressed envelope. A SASE is a self addressed stamped envelope. A SASE is better to send because you have a better chance at getting a reply, because then the celebs won't have to pay for stamps and envelopes. With Carrie Underwood though, I don't think I have seen a recent success without a SASE, so your best bet would be to send one.

2.You don't HAVE to send a picture to be signed if you don't have one or don't want to. Carrie Underwood has her own pictures she sends out, so if you don't know what kind of paper to use, don't worry about sending one. She might not be able to sign your picture though since she is probably not home. I believe she pre-signs hers, then whoever handles her fanmail sends one back in your SASE.

But, back to the question, it doesn't really matter what kind of paper you print it out on. Some people get them printed at a store, so it looks like a real photo. Some people, like me, just print them out on normal computer paper. But probably the best to use, like dgangel said, would be high quality glossy photo paper. But any kind works fine!

Good luck, and be sure to post your feedback!!

Sometimes if you do not send a picture to a celeb to sign they might send you a pre print or autopen. Also when sending something for a celeb to sign make sure you don't mind losing the item or picture just incase it gets lost, doesn't make it to the celeb or sometimes there's some celeb that won't sign some pictures you sent so they'll keep it and send another one instead or might send it back unsigned to you.

Hi dtrain123,

Sending a photo to a celebrity is optional but as Danny said, some celebrities will send you a pre-print or autopen if you don't send a photo to sign. A good way to see if a celebrity sings TTM or not is to check out the celebrities page on Fanmail & see if they have any feedback.

Sending an SASE is the best way to get an autograph. An SASE or Self Addressed Stamped Envelope has the postage paid for so & your return address on it & all the celebrity has to do is put your autograph(s) into the envelope & send it out. An SAE or Self Addressed Envelope is not the best idea because there are celebrities who won't honor your request if they have to pay for the postage.

The best photo paper to use when printing up photo to send to celebrites is glossy photo paper or high gloss photo paper. Also most photo paper sold nowadays has a size of 8.5x11. If you are looking for good photo paper, you should get HP photo paper, I use both HP glossy & high gloss photo paper & my photo's look great.
