Newbie... question about sending...

Unread post by Kat2009 »

Hello everyone! I am new to this whole autograph/fanmail business, so I have a few qeustions that need answering!!!

First off, where in the world do I find a decent 8X10 photo to send??? I'm really confused about that... do i have to find one and buy it from somewhere or can I get one off the web or what???

Second question... I live in the U.S. If I want 8X10s then I need to send an 8X10 SASE envelope right? So I need to put that in a bigger envelope to send it, right? What is the next size up and how many stamps should I put if I were to send across the country (from GA to CA)?

Also, last question, I promise, will all celebs sign the photo I send them? Like, if I carefully destroy (lol) a whole magazine so that I can get a perfect picture of someone like Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom and I send it, will they sign it or just send it back with a different photo?

Well, thats it I think... Sorry there are so many questions but I am so confused!!!!! Any and all help is appreciated so, in advance...

Hi Kat2009, welcome to the forum

1 you dont really have to send a photo but you can if you like, most celebs will provide one, I print most of the ones I send off the web

2 send a 9x12 envelope, you can get them at wal-mart or target, I think the postage is .64, I usually just put two .39 ones on so I dont have to go to the post office for the exact stamps

3 no, some wont sign at all, some will send you a pre print no matter what you send, but alot will sign whatever you send, you can look trough feedback to find who signs and who doesnt

hope this helps

Also remember when you send something for them to sign make sure it's something you don't mind loosing. Just incase it gets lost in the mail or sometimes if you send a pic to a celeb they might keep it and send you another one.

Hi Kat2009,

1.) Sending a photo to a celebrity is optional but some celebrities will send you a pre-print or autopen if you don't provide a picture to sign. Also some celebrities require that you send a photo to sign.

Some of us autograph collectors print up our own photo's to send. But remember, most photo paper sold nowadays is 8.5x11.

2.) I would advise you to use 9x12 envelopes when sending to celebrities because a 9x12 can house all sizes of photo's. And if you print up your own photo's, the photo paper sold nowadays is 8.5x11 so a 9x12 is needed. Also some celebrities such as Stephen J. Cannell & a few others send out 8.5x11 autographs.

3.) Most celebrities will sign the photo's that you send but understand that not all celebrities are allowed to sign your photo's, magazines, et al. Some celebrities are forbidden by contract to sign TTM so if you write to a celebrity who is forbidden to sign TTM, they will send you a pre-print or autopen. Also remember that there are some celebrities who use 3rd party companies such as Studio Fan Mail or Celebrity Merchandise for autograph requests.

Also remember, never send anything to a celebrity which you don't want to loose, your item could get lost, misplaced, stolen, et al.
