Don't throw things at me please :oops:

I'm actually ashamed of asking this but here I go. I'm not sure on how many stamps to put on the SASE. I'm new at this and I'm from Texas trying to mail some requests to California and Hawaii.

The envelopes' size is like half of a A4 sheet :oops: I got some FIRST CLASS stamps but I don't know how much the envelope weighs (with the SASE and my letter inside) so I don't know how many to put on the envelope I'm mailing either. I figure I could go to the post office instead but I'd rather use the stamps I already got.

Thanks a lot.

Hey Freckles :D
The cost of postage price on your SASE depends on the weight of your envelope (as well as size). It would come in handy if you have a weight-scale that can measure in ounces/pounds.
Usually, for any-size envelope under 7.5x10.5, you can put 41cent stamp on it. Anything over, you will have to put at least 58cents worth of stamps on your envelope.
You can calculate stamp costs HERE

Hope this helps you! {up}

Thanks for your reply ldy josie x!

It's the first time I try to request an autograph. I don't have a scale :( To be on the safe side, I'm going to take my envelope to the post office and mail it first class or whatever.

But my question is the SASE.
How many stamps? I'm going to request the autograph to Evangeline Lilly. She only sends the picture so it wouldn't weigh much. I'm going to mail her a 6x9 SASE, and it'd be mailed from Hawaii to Texas. I have four first class stamps. Do you think that's enough?

Thanks a lot :oops:

A 6X9 envelope would still be considered a letter and one first class stamp would be enough, but if you want to be safe two should be plenty.

Good luck with your letter!

I ran into, a problem, I mailed a regular leter sized envelope but had a 9X12 envelope in that with a letter. Because that weighs more than 2 ounces I had to put .58 cents on it, because it came back to me. I got some .20 cent stamps for it.

I usually only put one regular stamp on it unless it weighs a lot such as more than 2 pictures of a book etc.. :)

I think 9x12 envelopes are 80 cents, according to the site.
