I was wondering what to do if you want to write to a celeb who doesn't speak English and you don't speak their language? Will they have someone to translate their mail, would i still be likely to get a reply from them?
Its funny I haven't seen a thread with this topic before, but i was writting a letter to an actor and than realised that they may not speak English or at least not that well, lol. :D

I wanted to ask the same thing few weeks ago but I did not have time to do it ! so thank you !! :D
Since English is a "universal" language, I think that most of the celebrities can read this language... but who knows...
I remember, when I wrote to Jean Claude Van Damme through his agent in the US, I wrote my letter in French, nevertheless I get a signed picture... well know, I do not know whether Jean Claude read my letter or not, or if it is his agent who put the photo in the envelope after reading the words "autographe" and "photo"... :D

I would think a translator would be available to them and if not, when (assuming you send something to be signed) they see a photo or something and a return envelope, I think they will figure it out :mrgreen:

Good luck {thumb2}

You could also use an online translator. You could type what you want to write in English and have it translated into whatever language the person you are sending to speaks. Use can go here: http://www.freetranslation.com/
Good luck {thumb2}

Freetranslator.. It's weird though. Like about a year ago, I had French class, and it's so weird. I typed something in to be translated and got something but when I put it the French words they gave and translated it back to Enligsh, it was a completely wrong sentence!

ahh, very good question.
you might want to see who had a success with your person and ask them if they wrote in English or another language. If they did another language or you want to go to this website for free transalation. But of course the wording might be different because other languages speak differently and put words in front of the word it should go after. But, whatever, here's the website:

http://www.altavista.com
(you will see a link with a fish that says, Babel Fish Translation.

Good Luck and best regards, Peyton L.

Online translators are good to translate something for personal use, but if you are writing a letter in English and then use them to translate it, they do not translate correctly. The celeb may be able to get a rough idea of what you mean, but it wont make sense. Its because the online translators only translate in "simple" terms. Good luck if you try though, be sure to let us know how it goes!
