hi, at the end of may i sent an autograph request to joan van ark. her assistant rande promptly responded by email and said the photos would be on their way. that was june 7, 2007. having not received anything nearly 2 months later, i emailed rande to inquire. she responded that those were sent "ages ago," and that if i had not received them by the end of august, let her know, and she'd send more. of course, i appreciate her kindness. my concern is that the sase may not have had enough stamps (although i have had over 30 requests come back using the same amount of postage). but it would appear from the forums that the post office will still deliver (with postage due) and not simply trash it. true? has anyone else had a problem with items getting "lost" or merely being delivered at a snail's pace? any wisdom from the experience is greatly appreciated by the the newbie. thanks ... you guys are great.

I have had successes coming with notices on them which mean that I have to pay the extra postage if I didn't put on enough stamps. I think that very occasionally the envolope may get returned to the person who sent it (so in this case the celebrity), but usually the person recieving it will be asked to pay the extra. Post offices will not trash anything they get told to send unless it is refused by the reciever :)
