Mailing from US to France (please be kind, I'm new)

Okay, so I've done what research I can and I just want to clear some things up.

First and foremost there are several French actresses that I would love to get a signed photo of. Catherine Deneuve, Audrey Tautou, Marion Cotillard, etc. I've found their "current" addresses on here.

I also know that I should include my "LOR" Letter of Request, along with one or two photos at most to be signed. Inside I should have cardboard(if I want) as well as a "SASE" now this is where it gets tricky for me, I've mailed things to other countries before, but never from one. I've seen that IRC's are no longer sold(which is a shame), so the best answer seems to be including cash(euros?) or buying French postage and placing it on the SASE. This is where I'm lost at, is there an easy way to figure out how much? I've seen a lot of people suggesting three (but is that 1st class, 2nd class, etc.). Also, I admit I'm lost here as well, what type of postage should I get. I've seen people suggest ebay, but that is very overwhelming.

So in conclusion, LOR, SASE, photo(s), cardboard all inside of a larger envelope addressed to the mailing address with US postage on it.

I think I'm almost there, I just have to figure out the return postage part.

If you use Chrome browser, visit the French post office website, you will be offered a translation or there may be a dedicated English version. There you can try and figure out a price (virtually every PO website now has calculators) and the name/type of the stamps you need.

Or, cut stamps out of the equation entirely and use euros instead. The smallest note is a 5EURO.

First off, thank you for the response! Secondly, so I would just put a 5 euro note in the envelope? Would I explain it's purpose?

Yes just put it in the envelope, ideally folded around your letter or SAE so it's concealed a little bit.

Celebs i think would know what it's for, but good manners to write a line in your letter explaining you've enclosed money for return postage.

Or, you could seal the euro note in a small envelope, label it as money for postage and put it with your letter and SAE.
