Via Venu FAQ

While browsing the forum, I have noticed that a lot of members have qustions about sending to celebrities Via Venu. When I first joined this too was the thing which I struggled most with, so I thought this would help new members ^^

1) What is Via Venu (VV)?

If you send something to a celebrity Via Venu, it means that you are ending to them while they are at a concet, film set, on tour etc. This is not sending to their usual address.

2) Where can I find out about when celebrities are going to be at a venu?

If you are wanting to wite to a band or singer, then often on their website they will have a list of tour dates and times somewhere on their website. If the person you are witing to is an actor or actress, then sometimes imdb.com will have information about the films that he/she is doing soon.

3) How do I find addresses of different Venus?

With singers often on their website it will say which venu they are at and when. With actors/actresses it is harder to find addresses of sets and production addresses. First of all check in the "Add/Request a 'Via Venu' Address" forum, as quite often the film you are looking for will already have been posted, but if not then google is probably the bes place to stat. Search tearms like Production Address, Set Address, Filming Locations etc. If you know the production company then look at their website and see if you can find an e-mail address that you can write to and ask about addresses, or the address of the production company as often production companies will pass on fanmail. Variety.com is a very good site for set addresses and dates. For a list of Vanu's that Do and Don't pass on fanmail, go here:

4) What do I need to send Via Venu?

Sending Via Venu is exactly the same as sending to the celebrities usual address, except that it is a good idea to send a photo ot item for them to sign as it is unlikely that they will have brought photos to the set/concert with them. You must send the usual, a SASE or an SAE and IRC's and a letter as normal.

5) How far in advanced should I send?

For a concert it is a good idea to send about 4 or 5 day before the concert to ensure that it is not too late. It may be a good idea to put on the envolope "Please hold for..." and then the name of the singer/band. Don't send it more than about a week before hand or it may be misplaced or forgotten before the celebrity arives.

With set addresses, the celebrity is usually there longer than at a concert (usually you will find dates of set addresses in the "Add/Request a 'Via Venu' Address" forum if not from google), but still send sooner rather than later. o if the dates for the celebrity to be there were the 12th August to the 5th September, I would send it on the 12th or 13th of August.

Hopefully this has answered a lot of questions, anything that I should add please post!

Other than correcting the spelling to "venue", nothing else needs to be added, this is a pretty solid post. Although I thought there was a post like this somewhere already? :?
