I'm trying to get some photos in a disc and was wondering how many pixels are 4x6 photos?

I worked it out on Photoshop, and I think that 4 x 6 inches is about 288 x 432 pixels. You might want to check that for yourself, but I think it's right. It looks right, and the converter thingy on photoshop is pretty good

The more pixels the better. I try for 1024 x758, but finding a photo online that is that size is almost impossible!

Usually I look for photos bigger than 500. Exact pixels, I'm not sure, I edit them on my computer.
Hope that helps!

I use a resolution of 300 for most of my pictures, which is around 1200x1800 pixels. Ya, its murder trying to find a picture in those dimensions, but I do a bit of scale enlargement. The quality is pretty good at the end.
If you use a resolution of 72, you will get dimensions of 288x432.
It really depends what resolution quality you are looking for. I would say around 180 pixels/inch is a good resolution for a 4x6 which is around 720x1080 pixels/inch.
If you are using photoshop, the above info should help ya
Cheers

Ive found as long as the image size is a minimum of 800x1000 then it prints fine on a 6x4 photo. Hope this helps.
