I went to the Post Office today in hopes of shipping something to Paris. I'm in the US. Sadly, it seems this will be harder than I expected. While I can ship something there with US Stamps, when it's shipped bck to me they can use only French stamps which was obvious enough. But I can either buy a book of the 90 cents stamps on usps.com on have that person do it themselves.
The person is an actress, Audrey Tautou so of course I want to send her a SASE. Anyone have an issue like this before? I was thinking I'd just put a 5 dollar bill in the bubble envelope for her to send back but then she'd have to worry about the money conversion, etc. I'm not sure what to do. Can anyone help?
Dave

I always put like $5 when I send to a different country you just have to hide the money well. You could buy the booklet but if she's the only one in Paris your going to send to then it's not worth it.

Re: NEW HERE!
Your best bet is to purchase a couple of euro's from your local exchange desk/travel agent. It is good manners to send her currency and not your own.

Thanks everyone. Sadly, it's way to difficult for me to get Euros here. So I'm just going to put $ in the envelopes and hope for the best. Of course I'll let her, her aide or whoever know why I enclosed US money.

Hi Panzram
Your best bet would be to send some International Reply Coupons with your request if you can get some from your post office (not all of them stock IRC's though). This way, Audrey can exchange the coupons for French stamps.
If you can't, you can send some cash but make sure you conceal it well.
Good luck!

Here (at least) they no longer use IRC's. Strange, huh?
