Back in August, I got a pack of Avery acid-free/archival safe (standard weight) sheet protectors. I've been using them since, but I noticed that on the inside of the sheet protectors, there appears to be some type of a film. What would this be, and is it harmful to my autographs? I checked the photos I put in these sheet protectors in August, and the signatures did not lift from the paper.
Has anyone had this problem before?

I think that sounds really strange. Hopefully someone is able to answer your question.

What store did you purchase them in and what is the Item#. That will be on the box/package they came in.

Re: Film on Sheet Protectors
I've used those for about 10 years and have never had a problem. As long as they're acid-free, there shouldn't be any wear-and-tear on the autographs.

I've used them for years too and never had a problem. I'm not sure what film you're talking about. I've used them not only for autographs but also for my work as a teacher.

They just seem very greasy to me. I bought them at WalMart during the back to school sales. (They were only $3 {thumb2} )

Were they like that when you purchased them? I know one thing that will cause a film on sheet protectors if your not careful is if you have a wood or coal burning stove/Fireplace in your home and you have the pages in the general area.

They were like that when I purchased them.
It may just be my perception of them, but they seem different than they usually are. Also, when I look at them under a light, there looks like there is some shiny something.
