If you weighed it at the Post Office, and they told you it cost £3.50, then it cost £3.50.

If two 70p stamps would be enough, then they wouldve charged you £1.40

Hi guys,

Since the end of 2006, the postal charging system for the UK has changed. Whereas in the past the cost depended solely on the weight of an envelope or parcel, it now depends also on the physical size.

This means that you can send a heavy item in a smaller/thinner envelope than a lighter item would cost you in a bigger/thicker envelope. The name of the game is to keep your "postings" as light as possible, but more importantly - as this as possible!!

My guess is that you friend just used a thinner envelope than you!

See my thread here for more info on prices: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic ... 17&t=14167 <<arrow$

My solution would be to use A5 envelopes instead! I have done that since the postal changes and only pay for a normal 2nd class stamp.
