IRC help!

I just went to the post office to purchase some IRCs, and I was told that that service was no longer available as of May. Is this true? I searched the USPS website and found nothing at all pertaining to IRCs. If this is a total bust, is there anything else I can include in my letter to help ensure a reply? Please help!

IRCs have an expiration date and a lot of places had theirs expiring December 06. I know that some post offices didn't re-order them so they would no longer be in stock. I don't know if they have been discontinued, because I don't use them that much.

Other options:
You could try just sending a SAE.

Another option is to see if there are fanmail members are from the country you need and see if they will trade stamps.

Or you could try to buy that countries stamps online--I haven't tried this, some people have said it worked, others said it didn't.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Yep, I always put in a couple US dollars and have had no problem getting responses. IRC's are too hard to get. My Post Office seems very confused when I asked for IRC's. Not a good sign. Every P.O. has a different reason/story of why they don't have any and most don't stock them anymore. Hope our suggestions work for you. :)

btw, I tried to buy UK stamps online and they said they don't send them overseas. :(

Good luck!

I always try to explain in my letters that IRC's aren't available at my post office, include a SAE, and usually a couple dollars, depending on where it's to.

Yeh, forgot to mention that. That's good advice. I do the same. otherwise, they probably would be wondering why the heck you sent money! :) Charity?

Is it alright to send American dollars to other countries, or does that seem ethnocentric? DDD:

Yes there is. You can enclose some money..about $2 or so or you can trade IRCS from someone in another country. If it's possible, you can also ask the celebrity nicely if they can please provide the postage. Hope this helps!
