I'm a fan of many music groups, and I'd like to get some authentic autographs. I've noticed that (in some instances) for classic bands like Pink Floyd the successes have came from writing to a specific band member not the entire band. As a rule of thumb, should I usually target a specific band member when writing fan mail? Even if one doesn't stand out to me as more talented than the other members of the band? I mean, they all join together to make beautiful music, it's not just the effort of one. So what do ya think... Together or individually?

Personally I'd send one band picture and address it to the whole band. Rather than the indevidual, but thats just my opinion.

I agree, I personally would send a pic of the whole band. I don't think that it will really have an effect on getting a success though... ;) You will probably get an autograph either way!

I go for via venue. I'm new to it, but I've sent about 5 requests out. Hopefully I'll get some soon.

If a band is no longer together I'd send separately to each band member

If a group is still together I'd send one letter for the whole band
