Here's a basic template for a fan letter.

[Your Name]
[Your Address]
[Your City] [Your State] [Your Zip]
[Your Country]
[Current Date]

Dear [Celebrity’s Name],
I have been a big fan of yours for years, and have enjoyed your many [movies, songs,
etc.]. My favorite is ________________________ because:

[Your Comments & Thoughts]

I was wondering if you would mind sending me your autograph. I have enclosed a SASE
for your convenience. I hope to hear from you soon, and deeply appreciate your
generosity in fulfilling this request.
Thank you.
Sincerely,

[Your Signature]
[Your Name]

I would not advise using this template exactly like it is here, because it will sound unsincere and anybody would know it isn't "from the heart" (so to speak!)

It is hard to know if the celebrity will read your letter. If it is a really well known person I highly doubt it, but if it is a lesser known celebrity, the person might actually read it. It really all depends on who you are writing and how they respond to fan mail.
