What to include in fanmail...

Okay, so I was in New York City recently, and I was able to see Grease, Wicked, and Mary Poppins on Broadway. When we came out of the theater for Grease, we saw a few people waiting around a door, and we were like, "Huh, let's check this out". So we asked what they were doing, and the lady next to me said, "Waiting for autographs, Dear," in a very, very cool British accent.

Anyway, so I collected the autographs from all three shows at the stage doors. Now, I want to start sending out letters requesting autographs. While looking for Idina Menzel's address, I found this nifty little site. Now that I have the address, I have no idea what to write.

Would someone please give me some advice?
Thank you!

Welcome to the site :) there's no formulaic/perfect way of writing a letter, but I can suggest some pointers. In terms of length, one page is enough. For your introduction, you can introduce yourself, where you come from, etc and state that you are writing as you'd like an autograph. In the body you can elaborate on why you admire the person - what works of theirs did you enjoy best,etc - and in the conclusion just thank them for their time and re-instate that you would like their autograph. I keep mine short and sweet because I know that 95% of the celebrities I write to wont even read my letter, its their agents/secretaries doing the reading!! Good luck

Welcome to the boards!

You can tell her how much you love her acting and how much you enjoy her work! Aside that, she also sings and you can compliment her music!

Welcome to the forum {up}

Random Fact: I was waiting at a door, with some twits next to me yesterday, screaming at the people who were obviously working their way round.
Anyway, I tend to compliment them and write about how much I enjoy it, but as Shambler said, there's no real perfect way of writing fan mail.

If you need any help, feel free to PM me

Haha I never go to those things like standing out there in Times Square because it's so annoying.
