If the person you're writing to sends their own pictures back, how do you recommend asking for one? Usually I just write "I was wondering if you would be so kind as to autograph this picture I am sending you. etc" but I was reading the feedback of an actor I want to write to and people were saying that he sends his own pictures back personalized to you. How do I go about asking for an autographed picture while still sounding polite? Thanks!

I never ask for a photo when I send a request. But If I know that they do send out their own photos, I just include a 9x12 envelope if they send out 8x10's. they most always take the hint! LOL! I do also include at least an index card for them to sign. That way in case they don't want to send a photo, They can still sign my card.

Well on a lot of the posts they said it's always polite to ask for the person to send you an autograph. I was just wondering how I should phrase it if I'm not sending a picture...

Hey there Katie!

Usually, when I write my letters, I would write in my last paragraph something like this:

If it's posssible, can you please send me an autographed photo? I will be very grateful! Thank you very much.

or if you would like it personalised but you don't want to sound too straight forward, you can say:

Can you please send me an autographed photo and, if it's possible, personalise it to me? I will apprecaite it very much! Thank you.

You can also replace "an autographed photo" with a signed photo, either way it is polite. {thumb2} Be careful to not beg too much, just ask politely, as in the examples above! Also, celebrities would most likely send you a signed photo, even if you didn;t ask - but I find it more polite to ask if you want something back rather than just expecting something in return.

I know! I wish it wasn't such a pain to send requests overseas or I'd send to him next lol. After sending to Ben Barnes I was like "Let's just do American people for a while" but I really want to send to him... maybe I will lol. What do you think the odds are he'll send back? Like, really good or so-so?

Oh, Charlie is one of the best signers I know! I wrote to him twice and he replied both times - the firt time he sent me a beautiful 5x7 photo and the second time I sent him a questionnaire and a handmade present, I got me interview filled in and he wrote me a little thank you note for the present. Also, both times I only sent a letter - he was kind enough to provide an envelope and postage! {love} If you want to see scans, it is on my website!
