Were they written with the Dry Erase type markers?? My sister had a shirt signed with one of those and when she washed it, it took it completely off, but left all the ones that had been done with sharpie.
Sharpie holds up extremely well in many conditions, I was doing a few practice runs on some custom cards and signed them, then tossed them in the trash. later on I burned all the trash, but this tiny scrap with my name on it fell out of the fire ring and was probably out in the elements for a few weeks, even after that long of time sharpie still looked amazing, but the card has yellowed a bit.

nope sliver sharpie cuz the shirt is black but I have 2 other shirts signed in black sharpie and they are holding up just fine (a little fading but not much) Do you think it maybe because it was a sliver one and not black it did it? (the sliver doesn't hold up as well in my eyes as the other ones do well really the whole metallic set doesn't hold up well but I LOVE the sliver color lol)RYAN J. wrote:Were they written with the Dry Erase type markers?? Ah, Silver Sharpie, yep, that would do it as well. It's Some type of chemical they use to make those shiny that conflict with many items such as glossy photos and in your case a T-shirt. Not sure what it is, I would have to research the materials they make Sharpies with and compare that against the mettalic ones. The dyes in the silver sharpies must be less resistant.

Thanks for telling me that now lol...do u know if the heat trick really works? With shirts if u don't know the heat trick I have been told to heat the shirt/auto with an iron for a few mins then hand wash the shirt and hang dry don't put a signed shirt in the dryerRYAN J. wrote:Ah, Silver Sharpie, yep, that would do it as well. Hmmmmm, I've not heard of the heat trick before. But it might work, sounds dangerous though since you applying direct heat to the signature. Typically with my signed shirts, I get them signed, then put them in plastic bags and never wear them or wash them.

Re: Have you ever wrecked any of your autographs by accident
Well one time last year, I wrote to one of my favorite punk singers ever, Jorge Hererra from the Casualties. I sent it VV because they were at Warped Tour. Well later, I got a big package with the stuff I sent, signed and personalized, and their new CD! Brand new, still in the shrink wrap! Well a few weeks ago, I looked in the envelope and saw a mini-poster folded in half signed by the whole band! However, a huge chunk of it was torn off when I opened the envelope and is of course missing since I got this a year ago. No autographs are missing but it looks very damaged.
Another one I have was IP. I was at a Toxic Holocaust concert in August and I met their bassist, Phil Zeller after the show! Panicing, I just grabbed my cell phone and asked him to sign that (I had nothing else!) and just a few weeks after the show, the autograph wore off and there's nothing there anymore!
