Do you care about PP or Authenticity?

Unread post by picture_blogger86 »

Hello!
I started collecting autographs when I was in 4th grade. I have been collecting on and off since then, and want to know do you care about PP or Authenticity? Like if your most favorite actor/actress sent PP's would you really care or just happy you got an autograph?

I think it's cool either way.
Recently Received: Paige O'Hara, Don Rickles, Phyllis Smith, Larry The Cable Guy, Sam Elliott, Katharine Ross :)
RTS: Nick Offerman :(

I always aim for authentics. {up} I put a lot of research into all my requests before I send out, so I know that what I'll be getting back is authentic. if their known for sending autopens and pre-prints, I won't send & rather wait till I meet them in-person. no sense in wasting postage and time if their not even going to see my letter. if I wanted a pre-print, all I'd have to do is go on google, type in '(Celeb name) Autograph' and click 'print'. It's the same thing as a pre-print.

If someone I want to sent to sends only PPs, then I won't waste my time or postage. I would try that person VV maybe later. I want to send my time and money getting authentics rather than PPs/APs/Secs.

Sometimes I like pp's. For example, I like sending to SFM because it doesn't cost me anything and, even though it's not authentic, it's a nice photo of a celeb I really like. But when I send a letter and a sase and everything, it's disappointing because I always hope for an authentic when I send requests like that.

I'd rather get a RTS than a PP or fake. I don't get how people are satisfied with "getting something back" even though its fake. Are we not in this hobby to collect signatures? Not to collect fake autographs and signatures printed on a photo by a computer?
~Currently taking a break from collecting to focus on school~

much like others have said, i dont send to people known for pp's or secs. i read about michael caine being known for secs, and luckily i met him in person. were it not for meeting him i wouldnt have seeked his autograph as it would be a waste of money for a sec.

i traded a tim burton ip from a friend as id read he sends autopens. so id rather buy or trade an ip than send for an autopen.

that being said, i DO understand the attraction of getting an "official" fake. but it does not compare to the real thing for me.

This. Although I'd rather receive a PP than a secretarial, they really bug me above everything else.
Most wanted: Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Tom Hardy, Julianne Moore, Stephanie March, Michael Fassbender, THG cast. Any help is greatly appreciated!

While I would MUCH prefer to get an authentic, I do have to appreciate the person for caring about their fans enough to send a PP.

SFM does make me mad. Yeah, at least they send something to their fans but all I have to do is send a free email to get a PP! I hate using my time/stamps/stationary to send them a real letter and then get a SFM in return.

And secretarial: I hate it because unless you really know the star's signature, you can be fooled into thinking it is real! At least with PP they are farely easy to identify.
