Re: People in prison/killers ???
Like a few other people on here I say go for it, if it is something that interests you no one should judge you for it.
There is a great program/website called writeaprisoner.com where you can literally search thousands of profiles. Most of these individuals will write a little bio about themselves and along with their addresses, their crimes are listed as well.
It seems like you might be going for murderers a little more well known, but I encourage you to look into others.
I have wrote to 3 individuals on here and I have to say my experience has been fascinating and eye-opening. 2 were women convicted of non-violent crimes and the other was a male my age (25) convicted of murder and serving a life sentence. My personal reasons for doing this were not only interest, but also my belief that everyone needs someone. It took me awhile before I actually wrote a letter to the male, but after looking up the details of the crime (as there was plenty of public information online) I felt comfortable.
I dont know exactly what you had in mind, but these were not one and done situations for me, as in i didn't just send them the one letter. I wrote the women for about a year before they were released and I still hear from them occasionally to this day. The male I have been writing to for about 3 years now and I expect I will be writing him for the rest of our lives.
Just a few tips...
- Get a P.O. Box, despite my level of comfort with these individuals I still use that as opposed to my home address
- Don't be the first to mention their crime, if they want to talk about it they will, and eventually they will
- Be careful about what you write in your letters as CO's read through every letter that comes to the prison, don't get your inmate in trouble for something stupid you decided to write
- Expect major delays. It's a prison your writing to, mail can be held for any reason a CO sees fit whether it's something your inmate did or not.
- Make sure you write your address at the bottom of the letter as the envelope often isn't given to them.
Sorry this is long, just wanted to share a few things.

Re: People in prison/killers ???
I recently heard a story about a male from America exchanging letters from Ghadhafi when he was still alive for about twenty years. He has four signed pictures of him to this day and even used his home address not a PO Box

Re: People in prison/killers ???
Do like what I did when I wrote to Drew Peterson. I told him that I collect unique autographs and would like to include his in my collection. Simple as that. He sent me an 8x10 and two business cards signed by him. Look where he is at now, his murder trial starts tomorrow. And if it really freaks you out that they're going to "hunt you down" (which will not happen), use a PO Box.
Besides, I think it's really cool to add that to a collection because who really has a Drew Peterson autograph?

Alright I'm sorry but that pisses me off you wrote him for an autograph. Besides maybe the dark knight shooter, this scumbag is probably my most hated of all the "famous" murderers. you gave him the attention he so desperately craves. God I hope the justice system works, and this evil man gets what's coming to him.stumper93 wrote:Do like what I did when I wrote to Drew Peterson. Re: People in prison/killers ???
Well you know, I like unique autographs. And it's my collection, so I can obviously do what I like to do. Yeah of course he loves the attention and that's why he sent me something. Of course I don't agree with anything this guy has done, he's like you said "a scumbag." I'm not the collector that goes for big name people all the time. I like the challenge when it comes to this hobby.
Look how many people have tried for Charlie Manson or OJ Simpson. It's all the same. Why wouldn't you try for the unique autograph that will only go up in value?
Anyway, not looking to start any sort of argument. Just my opinion on the matter.

I'm not looking to argue either. Nothing against you personally, but I have a huge hatred for Drew Peterson in particular. But it really just disgusts me the biggest lowlifes and scumbags on earth get fanmail, autgraph requests, and attention for the fact that they murder people. Hell, if people like unique autographs so much, write to a soldier who was wounded fighting for your country. There are plenty of interesting people who would be both challenging and unique to get, who have done something postive for society... not murder innocent and helpless peoplestumper93 wrote:Well you know, I like unique autographs.
