The event featured the second public appearance of Jerry Lawler since his heart attack. Kingfish looked great and was his usual jovial self. He is a true walking miracle.
He was talking backstage about his return to WWE and when that might be, but I'll hold that little ditty to myself.
Anyways, I got the other photographer at the event to snap a pic of myself with Lawler. It's the happiest I've ever been to have a photo-op done. Just glad it was possible.
Eugene, Dutch Mantell and Bobby Eaton were all also present and I got numerous sigs from those folks as well as three pics signed by Lawler.
Got a photo op with Jerry since what all he's been through. You don't realize how much someone means to a region until something like this happens.

Also, in the AM on Saturday, the NCAA's winningnest coach of all-time - Tennessee's Pat Summitt - was having a statue unveiled at her alma mater (UT Martin).
I made the short 15 minute drive over there and I was told due to her early onset dementia that Summitt would not be speaking but four or five words and certainly not talking to the media.
Well, she didn't talk to the media, but needless to say, she deviated from the script and surprised everyone with an impromptu speech. And then, she stuck around and led her security team on a chase as she visited with friends and classmates in typical Pat Summitt fashion.
Of course, I had something that she signed. As I told the UTM Sports Information Director... They're not going to control Pat Summitt when she's amongst the people.
