Re: Historical and military addresses, MOH success!
Today, 8-19-12, I received MOH recipients: Robert Ingram, Wesley Fox, Harold Fritz, Thomas Burner, Jack Jacobs, and Kenneth Stumpf. Sent SASE, LOR, and index cards to all between 7-30-12 and 8-9-12 to home addresses. Got back either my index card, MOH cards or both from all. I also sent to Frederick Ferguson on 8-9-12. I got back a typed note in my SASE that also contained my LOR. The note basically stated that he doesn't give autographs because he didn't want people profiting from his military service. Anyone who wants the addresses just PM me and I'll send the address ASAP.

Re: Historical and military addresses, MOH success!
Hi Everyone,
My name is Matt and this is my first post on this site.
Recently I got interested in collecting WWII autographs and in mid October I sent out 5 letters to WWII CMOH Recipients.
I got two replies:
Hershel Williams
- last surviving Iwo Jima CMOH Recipient
Robert "Bob" Dale Maxwell
- received the CMOH for ''falling on a grenade" to save his comrades.
A short time ago I sent out a second batch to CMOH Recipients from both Korea and WWII.
If anyone has any idea how to write to non-CMOH Recipients who particiapted in WWII I would be interested in how or where to find them at.
I am particularly looking for the addresses of (both American and Japanese participants) :
USS Indianapolis Survivors
Wake Island Defenders
Hibakusha (bomb survivors)
Tarawa Veterans
Guadalcanal Veterans
Saipan Veterans
Iwo Jima Veterans
Okinawa Veterans
you get this idea....
If anyone knows the address of Sidney "Sid" Phillips in Mobile, I would love to get his autograph along with his sisters. They were both featured in "The War" by Ken Burns and they both are great story tellers!
Thanks!
-Matt

Re: Historical and military addresses, MOH success!
Hi Matt-
I hope your autograph collecting is going well.
Over the past year or so I have been collecting autographs from MOH recipients and other members of the military, with bouts of Football & Boxing HOFers requests spread out in between.
From December 2011 thru February 2012 I received 21 replies from MOH recipients including 3 that are now deceased.
Since November, I've been sending out requests to various members of the military, mostly those who participated in WWII. So far I have received the following:
12 World War II Aces
6 USS Indianapolis survivors
2 members from Band of Brothers
1 Korean War Ace
1 member of Black Sheep Squadron.
New replies are being received sporadically and the list keeps growing.
Let me know if you are interested in any of the above "categories" and I can give you a working address. (provided I didn't throw it away and have trouble finding it again).
