Some of my comic art - I love comics - wish I had them all. In 1988 I found a Batman #1 Fine condition in a storage company along with a New York World's Fair 1940 in NM condition. The cardboard spine wasn'nt even cracked - never read - should have saved it. Also a Flash Comics #2 in VF and around 40 early Superman comics in great shape. I also found 40 egg boxes full of 1930 and 1940s stuff including baseball cards and sports memorabilia. I had to rent a 14 foot U-Haul truck. The owner of the storage company couldn't make it there to sell me the lot so he sent his teenage son who told me that he wanted $300.00 for everything. I almost choked. I sold it all quickly for a fast turnaround of $32,000.00. I sold the comics and a bunch of 1930s Shadow pulps in Fine condition to a now well known thief named Danny Dupcak. He owned a store called Fantasia in Hartsdale, New York at the time. He didn't buy the baseball cards which included Babe Ruth 1933 Goudeys because he was just getting into them and wasn't sure of the prices. I had heard that he called Stephen Fishler the owner of Metropolis (a high end comic and memorabilia store in Manhattan, and a decent and fair guy whom I had met at shows in the city on 33rd street) to ask him if he knew where i was getting this stuff from as there was so much of it that he though that I was stealing it. He probably wanted to steal it first - the rat! He told me that the Batman #1 was a VG+ with some surface dirt and gave me $1,500.00 for it. I had a friend that was my partner in this storage find and he wasn't a collector and wanted to sell everything quickly - so that's what I did. I wished I could have known better and saved the Batman #1 too. Any comments appreciated - thanks, 'Nuff Said!
