Growing Concern

Unread post by Kyle_C_Haight »

I sent out a bunch of letters back in September to various celebrities, but, have received rare replies; I think of the ones I just sent letters to, only Alex Trebek and Robin Williams have replied. I'm starting to lose hope on those, quite frankly. I sent requests to people like Stacy Haiduk, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, Kate Mulgrew, and Jim Carrey among others, but, have gotten nothing back yet.

So, in about mid-October, I decided to up the ante. I'm a big fan of the old television show "seaQuest DSV", and I wanted to get the cast's autographs, but, perferably on photographs of their "seaQuest" characters. So, I printed off quite a few pictures on high quality photo paper, included a self-addressed envelope and sent the photos to the following people: Roy Scheider, Don Franklin, Rosalind Allen, Kent McCord, Michael Ironside, John D'Aquino, Michael DeLuise, and Steven Speilberg. That was mid-October, and still, have not received any replies.

Now, I also live in Canada, so, I included one of those postage receipt deals where the receipient can cash the thing in and get an appropriate stamp, but, I don't know if I included as many as I should have. As I recall, the postal office clerk said I could only include one, or something like that, and it would be sufficient, but, I'm wondering if that's actually the case? Should I have included more? (I'm also a bit curious because the photo I sent to Michael Ironside was addressed to Toronto, and I live in London, Ontario, so, I would think I would have gotten something back from there, being so close)

Or, am I just jumping the gun, here? I mean, I've seen people getting replies from some of these people in a couple of weeks, and it's been a couple of months for me. Can anyone offer some feedback, tips, assistance, anything?

Thanks.

Hey there!!

In this hobby it's all about being paitent. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have waited over a year and a half for autographs and still got them back!! I would wait. Sometimes celebrities are just too busy to answer fanmail and it takes them a while to get them from their agency.

But for people like David Letterman i would try emailing him or mailing him again. He is quite quick with his replys and maybe yours was lost.

When sending to celebrities i would always try to include SASE. It really increases your chances of getting any sort of reply back from the person you are writing to.

Don't worry about it. If worse comes to worse, try resending. I had to send to Kate Bosworth twice to get a reply! So it all really depends.

I'm also from Canada. I never send IRC since I have U.S. stamps. You should send at least 2 or 3 irc with your requests.

Hope this helps

Danny :)
