I have a bunch of signed books, including ones signed by Gene Simmons (Kiss), Chuck Palahniuk (he wrote Fight Club), and Norman Mailer. But
the signed book I treasure most is a copy of Slaughterhouse-Five
signed by the late Kurt Vonnegut.
I was fortunate to have sent the book to Mr. Vonnegut about 10 years ago, and he graciously signed it for me.
Just as an aside, I've discovered that most authors prefer fans send
bookplates to be signed rather than the books themselves. I guess
it's easier for them to manage and doesn't result in stacks of packages
arriving thru the mail all the time.
Not a bad thing since bookplates are inexpensive and can be sent thru
the mail cheaply in a small envelope. If it gets lost, not a big deal.
when I asked for naomi judd and jackie martling they were both kind enough to send not only a personalized picture but thier newest books signed and a personal note as well.
