Ebay, and a doubtful buyer--ME!! HELP!!
ALright, this is the situation---
I've been a Bob Dylan fan for my entire life, and I was sniffing around ebay today to find......
A bob dylan autograph. "Gauranteed not to be a forgery" For $5.75. The two people offering these autographed 8x10's are photoplace77055 and celebrities1001.
Has anyone dealt with these people before? Do they send authentics? And can anyone (this is a longshot) verify Dylan's signature as real? I just don't see how these can be so cheap...But maybe I'm wrong. ANY HELP would be appreciated. Thank you all....
Best,
Monte

I've dealt with them before. They are definatly preprints. The signatures ARE from Bob Dylan, but just preprinted. And they are selling them. Its says, "A FABULOUS REPRINT. GUARANTEED NOT TO BE A FORGERY" and "BEAUTIFUL GUARANTEED SIGNED REPRINT". Soooo...i've dealt with them and i was thinking about buying some from them.

Ah...so they aren't authentic...? I knew that there must have been something fishy when they said "Gauranteed not to be a forgery". Too bad. Has anyone else gotten anything authentic from them? I've pretty much given up hope of getting my Bob Dylan Autograph

Yeah. Don't give up! You should try him via venue. He is on tour till the end of July. If you act quick, you can send him somethin' via venue. I'm pretty sure he will sign. He is a good guy. Here is his tour schedule if you wanna try it out.

The thing with buying autos on Ebay (or anywhere) is that if it's too good to be true...it's probably a fake.
I buy autos from Ebay all the time. But they are of no-name baseball players, so most of them are probably real. Why would someone take the time to fake a Bobby Witt (see, you've never heard of him, right) autograph, when they can fake a Mickey Mantle, or Albert Pujols auto (Heard of them havent you?)

Thanks everyone. Now, I think this is changing the topic completely but.....
Via-Venue....
Is it the same deal as sending to a talent agency, etc.?
(i.e. SASE, Pic, and Letter)
Or are there other nuances to this?
Also, How do I know the post will get the bundle of my stuff to him on time? I mean, what if it takes three days and he and his band move on on the tour?
Any help is appreciated. Sadly, I have never tried via-venue before.
Sorry, and thanks again!!

Hey Monte,
It is almost like sending to a talent agency. Sending via venue you REALLY should include an SASE, pic (especially since the performer probably won't have anything there with them) and letter!!
I can't really think of any other nusances. It may take shorter than it does to send to a talent agency or just as long depending on whether or not the performer signs it when they receive it or take it with them on tour and sign it at a later date.
You should send up to a week before the show unless the show is overseas then you should probably send sooner. On the envelope you may write "Please hold for show on ... date".
Not to worry. If you'd like to check out for venues that do/don't pass on fanmail you can check out THIS thread.
Hope that helps!
