Approaching a celeb

Ok.. so next month, I'm going to Los Angeles and hopefully, I'll meet some stars and get autographs. I really don't know how to approach a star because I've never really seen one on the streets(even though I live in New York). So..what do I do when I see them? Just go up to them like "Hi, ____! I'm a huge fan of your work, etc."? I don't know.. lols. And how do I ask them for their autograph? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

I'm not really sure myself, but if you were to see a celebrity on the street normally they don't want to cause a lot of attention towards them so the best thing to do would probably be to be short and sweet and say something like, "Excuse me ____, could I please get an autograph (or picture with you). I'm a huge fan of ______ (maybe mention a movie or something s/he been in)." And that's about it!!

I've read many accounts where there have been a few celebs who just want full privacy when walking in public, but there are some who will stop for a moment for a fan. I'm not really sure how you go about that in L.A. especially if there's a LOT of paps around all the time.

Hey!

Well because I live about 5 1/2 hours away from NYC and because my family are NYC nuts, I've been about 8 times and had this experience. Sometimes they can be nice, and other times not so nice. My advice is to base your approach on the surroundings. If they are eating lunch or talking with a friend, I wouldn't interupt. But if they are standing alone or signing for others then go ahead and make your move.
