Re: The post office wierdo?
Yeah, my postmaster used to think I was really strange. (She's my friends mom). One day, when I sent out my first ever requests, I bought around 48 stamps and she stared at me and goes "what are all those letters for???" I told her and she sort of laughed and goes "I doubt they will respond, but here you go". So I sent off those letters, and about a month later, my mom goes in and checks the mail and brings home Gabrielle Christians autograph. So I went into the post office and showed the postmaster. She was in shock. Now she thinks my hobby is really cool, and gets excited when I get a large envelope in the mail. "Who's that from?!?!?!" lol

I don't go to the post office often anymore, but whenever I do they definitely recognize me or remember me, which can be nice and are always helpful.

Thanks to -Lil1- for my great sig!

I only usually send one or 2 requests at a time, but they do kinda look at me strangly when I always come in and ask for IRC or say i'm sending overseas all the time. If they look at the address, they don't say anything but look at it kinda like 'what the? freak. Good luck with that! *sarcasum* '. Most people don't reliase celebrities DO write back and therefore they think your stupid. I got a reply back once while i was at Uni and my Dad rang and i got all excited. my friends asked me why and when i told them they were like 'what they actually write back!? liek who and how many of them!?'

Nobody at my local PO has ever said anything about why I write to celebrities but they know exactly what I want when I go to the counter! lol

I once wrote to Will Smith and while the lady in the post office was putting stamps on it she just froze and said "oh dear God!" I thought she had put the wrong stamp on it or had spilt something over the envelope!
Then she said "Is that the REAL Will Smith?" When I told her it was she thought it was extremely cool and said "I hope you get the response you're hoping for". Then she glanced at the envelope for Orlando Bloom and said "Who's that?" (she was an elderly lady

I sent ALOT of requests today. She was going over them (I am not sure if she noticed all) but she saw Anna Kournikova's and she was like "Which Anna? The tennis star?". I was like "Ya" and she was like "No way...for real..."
LOL - Then she saw Jackie Chans and stuff. Not sure if she quite knew what was really going on. I prefer it that way. The P.O. guys are pretty cool. They know quite well. I just don't know well the actual guy coming to put mail in my mail box. I would have been a bit more nicer if he didn't keep trying to fit an 8x10 envelope that says "Do Not Bend" in a tiny mail box >.<

It's not a big problem if they know what you're doing! I buy a ton of stamps every 15th and 30th (pay days!) an when I walk in, the ladies are usually pulling out all the different kinds of stamps they have available.
One lady in particular, if I see her around town before my route runs, she'll let me know what all I have coming. A couple of times, a lady has asked me to find the address of a certain actor for her. Whenever my mother goes in and buys stamps for herself, they always ask if they're for me, and I'm 25! (Not that I don't still bum them off her, too
)
They take care of my stuff, they know what I'm doing and they don't hound me about 'postage due' items or anything like that, because they know I'll keep up with it.
The way I look at it, my entire collection-other than a few in-persons-passes through their hands. Plus, they know, ebay, and collectors like us are what keeps them employed!
