since your "jesus loves you and so do i" put a smile on my face
i will give my opinion
you are lucky,or just write to the right people
most people will not get that percentage of celebrities using there
own envelopes,i guess it really depends more on who you
are writing to
this hobby does cost money i have spent over 1000.oo dollars this year
i guess you have to be prepared to spend money
i always get my envelopes back, but most of the time i send irc's and don't put stamps on them
i think the only time (years ago) that i would get a different envelope, would be when
the answer came from fanmail
there are however some that you don't need to send postage, but i would send some anyways
thats my opinion
feel free to dissagree

Re: Question on sending SASE

As time goes by on this subject I am more curious now as to what they do with the postage and my envelopes they don't use.

I too will send SASE. I mean I'd be taking the chance of them not answering me back. And the whole point of collecting autographs is to get the autograph :D . Although I do enjoy telling them why I like them or what they have done that I have enjoyed and what not. I try to always send a hand written letter as well.

I haven't ever seen postage that looks to have been cut off another envelope and added to another, yet.

I don't like to send anything to fanmail. I feel it's wasted stamps, because I know they are all preprints.

And yes this is an expensive hobby. But such a rewarding hobby. I love getting mail! Stamps have gone up and the envelopes aren't that cheap either.

I'm glad I made someone smile.

i have never sent a request off without a sase, i think its kinda rude to whoever you have wrote to to make them pay postage if you were that much of a fan you would pay postage so that they can return your signed photo etc... only liverpool used their own envelopes because mine were to small but all the rest used my sase

I don't know how old this topic is, but I'm posting in it anyway.

I have 53 autographs. One autograph I have got came in my SASE. That is because I've just started sending SASE's. So that goes to show you that celebrities do reply with out a SASE. Lately I haven't been able to afford sending a SASE to everyone. So I just tell them in my letter that I can not afford to sent them a SASE at this time. I've mostly been sending SAE's lately. But, I mostly write to child stars, so thats probably why I don't have to send a SASE. The only adult stars I have wrote to have been Kate Hudson and Lauren Graham. The rest are under 20. I think its great sending to young 'not-so-famous-stars' because they will be huge one day. Anyway, my point is, I do not think you have to send a SASE every time.

WOW! 6 autographs in one day! The most I have ever got in one day is 2!

Why does sending to child stars mean you don't have to send a SASE?? That makes no sense to me. No matter what their age is, or whether or not they respond, it's sort of rude to make them foot the bill for something that you want.

I meant that most of them aren't aware of what a SASE is - say I wroted to a 6 year old, do you really think they'd know what a SASE is? No, they woudln't. I didn't say I DON'T send SASE's to them, I said they reply with out a SASE.
