Questions for a complete newbie here?

Hi there, I recently came across this website and was reeding the feedback section and I can't believe all the successes. So, I'm interested now in sending mail to celebs and waiting to get back from them.
-For the stars database, I noticed there's sometime multiple addresses...so does it matter which one I use?
-Can I just send them a fan letter asking for their autograph?
-Am I more likely to get feedback from someone more obsure than an A-list star?
-What is the correct way to begin this hobbie? Any advice for starting tips or just tips in general?

first it dont mater what star it is then use the adress with the most sucsess always check the feedback forum everyday to chceck the latest sucsess

It usually is easier to get the autograph of an obscure person than to get the autograph of an a-List star. Many people that have done a few shows here or there are usually better about signing through the mail than A listers. It really depends on the person, what they are doing, and sometimes their age. Check the feedback for the person you want to send to.

Usually it is wiser to send a SASE ( a seld addressed stamped envelope) and something to sign. This way the celebrity only has to sign the thing (photo, notecard, etc.) and send it back to you in the SASE. That way they don't have to waste money buying stamps for their fans.

-For stars with multiple addresses, I always use the address that had the most recent success.

-As manu80 said, in your letter, explain WHY you're a fan. Explain that you liked them in whatever movie or TV show they were in.

-I've personally found that (in general) the wait period for lesser-known stars is shorter. I've had successes from several lesser-known actors and actresses that took less than 3 weeks to get back to me (3 weeks or less is very quick to get an autograph back).

ALSO:

-Only write to people you're a fan of. Lots of collectors just write to random celebrities just for the sake of getting an autograph.

-Be patient. Some successes may take just a few days or a few weeks, but many successes take months. My shortest wait period for an autograph is 9 days. My longest wait period so far was 7 months.

-Check the database for celebrities who don't sign through-the-mail (TTM). Most celebrities are more than happy to sign TTM, but some don't. Some only send pre-prints, or copies. Others won't send anything back at all. You might not want to use stamps or envelopes on someone who is known not to sign TTM.

-Always use a SASE. It makes it easier on the celebrity.

-If you'd like, you can send a picture to the celebrity for them to sign.

-Try to keep your letters under one page.

-Note that some celebrities are only known to sign Via Venue (VV). This means that they are only known to sign from a movie set, theater, or other event. Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Justin Timberlake, and David Schwimmer are examples of celebrities who are known to only sign VV. For example, if you wrote to Schwimmer's agency address, you would most likely receive a pre-print. If you wrote to him at a movie set (and sent a picture for him to sign), ther is a chance that you'll get an autograph back.
