have u ever gotten anything back more than expected?

heya
i'm new to this..my question for the collectors is: have u ever gotten more back than just a photo with an autograph? for example even a letter? is there hope for this or do these letters/requests you send only get to their managers?
and if you don't insert a stamped envelope, does it mean u wont' get anything back?

You don't have to send a SASE, but it sometimes help if you want to get a reply faster. When I first started collecting, I never sent a SASE, I just wrote a letter and I'd get replies.

Some celebs do write little notes when they reply, esp. lesser known celebs since they get less fan mail.

Hey there NumbSoul88! ;)

Welcome to Fanmail.biz!! {clap} I'm sure you'll enjoy it here! {thumb2}

To answer your question, riot said it all! ;) You can get replies without using a SASE, it's possible, but mostly from younger actors. You can search the database/forum to see if your favourite star will respond! :)

If you write a very nice letter, you might end up with a special inscription or reply - I got some very nice replies from actors such as Josh Duhamel, Charlie Cox, Alfred Molina and Paul Bettany! :mrgreen:

Lastly, always remember it's polite to pay for the return postage - you want something from the celebrity. {thumb2}

Good luck collecting,
Lizanne

Thanks for the replies btw, very nice and helpful people here :-)

I wrote to the drummer of an indie-rock band that is extremely popular in the U.K and Europe (won't say who for privacy reasons), and he not only sent me an autographed photo - but a letter and a signed CD of his solo demo's as well. {thumb2} That's definitely much more than I expected! You won't get this kind of response from every celebrity, but it's worth a shot to really go 'all out' in your letter sometimes because you never know when you'll strike it lucky!

No, not at all! I've gotten over 45 requests back now from celebrities of all ages and different levels of fame without supplying the return postage! And no, they didn't come in slowly either ;-)

Have fun collecting!
