Re: Why Do You Collect? (To Sell? Ect)
I collect to have a momento from celebs I like, mainly football players and wrestlers. Every autograph I have has a special meaning to me so I would never sell.

haha to be honest, to this day, I still have no idea. Maybe I just like writing to celebs and wanting them to know how much I admire their work

I don't collect to sell either. Thank goodness that I don't own a credit card, etc. I collect for fun. It gives me something to do when I'm board or have nothing else to do or when I'm having a bad day and love to see everyone's signatures on the people I like which is neat to see other people's handwriting and signatures, so I collect for fun.

I collect to expand my "24" collection.
Instead of just buying official 24 merchandise - like books, soundtracks, and DVDs - I create my own collectibles.
I frame Entertainment Weekly magazines that have 24 as the cover story (3 so far). I also try to get 24 marketing posters from stores like Best Buy (when new DVDs come out).
The same goes for autograph collecting. I put together my own 24 album with various actors from all six seasons. Like I said before, instead of buying official merchandise all the time, I create my own unique collectibles.

Exactly how I feel. It's nice to write a letter and just walk to your mailbox for it to come rather than having to wait in the cold for over 30 minutes - 1hour sometimes outside of a theatre (practically alone!) in NY! And I love getting mail!Melindabear2002 wrote:I actually started only in person. But then I just really wanted a collection of some of my favorite writers, actors, singers, football players, etc.... In person ones are still my favs but it's a good feeling to get something back in the mail. Plus you never know when it will come.

I collect as a hobby. I love it. Not only does it entertain me, but my family just loves it when I get something back. They want me to hurry up and open it to see what I got back. Wahaha!
I would never sell anything but pre-prints, if I had more than one. Even then, I likely wouldn't sell them. It's exciting to see one of those shiny, gleaming, gorgeous yellow envelopes in the mail box or on the table. I'll take any autograph I can get. Secretarial, AP, PP, authentic. Anything. I'll pass this hobby on to my kids when I decide I'm ready to have them.
