do you ever 'rush' letters?
(just to point out i write for a hobby, not for comercial gain) But does anyone 'rush' letters to older celebs?
for example i post the letters for older actors/actresses before posting to younger?
I have adopted this now, as sadly many of the people i would have loved to write to have passed away.
anyone else do this?

I orignally thought you mean actually rushing letter, writing them quick in a hurry in which case it would have been a "NO!".
Yes, I do tend to write to older people before the younger ones. I have a list of people I would like to write to, and usually I go for who I feel like writing to, or which letter I find will be easier for me to write (I'm a terrible procrastinator so I need to really want to write the letter to get it done).
But I am now choosing to write to older people first, whether I really feel in the mood to write to them or not. I would really be annoyed with myself if I kept putting them off, and God forbid, something happened to someone I really admired. Like yourself, a lot of people I wish I had written to, or even wish I had been collecting autographs when they were around, are gone now, and I've lost the chance.

I usually write the letters for the older actors first, but I don't send them out straight away. I should really get into the habit of that because I don't really want to miss out on getting somebody's autograph I want. I'll just have to get more stamps...

I, also, as Johnny Fan thought, thought you meant rushing the letter and writing quickly, too. But I'm glad you didn't mean that, as I think a majority of people, including myself would say NO.
Actually, I haven't written to many elderly people. I do plan to write to 2 of them though, but I'm not sure if one of the addresses works. But one of them is close to me (in Boston) so I'm mailing that out soon though. So, in conclusion, I don't rush letters to people who may pass away, as much as I'd like to, I just procrastinate too much. Haha. I'd feel terrible if one of them passed away though

Honestly, I do write to a lot of older people. A lot of the people are War veterans, World War II Aces, WWII POW's, and the same for Korea and Vietnam. I do try to mail out their letters as soon as I have them written - I don't like to wait on them.
But no, I don't rush my letters to them, I just write and mail.

Re: do you ever 'rush' letters?
I always do want have a couple of good elders i'd like to write to.
The problem is that I finally think of writing to them when I find news they've become sick or even worse, passed on.
Like just recently I wanted to write to Chuck Daly only becuase I was reminded of him when they announced his cancer diagnosis so now all I send are Get Well Soon cards or Feel Better.
I tend to advoid older people because I could imagine they want privacy and in case they wouldnt want to sign due to health reasons I want to respect their wishes.

Re: do you ever 'rush' letters?
the awnser to the qusteion for me is yes and no, yes because i plan to write to older celebs usualy first, but i send their letters out whenever i send the other letters out so i can send a few days after thinking about writing or even a few months.
my last sending period i had such a weird mix of age differences, i wrote to a 20 year old ,a 22 year old, a 19 year ,a 16 year old ,a 85 year old and a 91 year old. so far ive got 4 out of 6 back

Re: do you ever 'rush' letters?
As others had me mentioned, I initially thought you meant actually rushing letters and the answer would be no, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to letters.
I have been thinking the same recently, as there are several older celebrities that I want to write to, the eldest being 96 next month :o I want to send her a birthday card with my letter.
Like Johnny's Fan, I always find myself writing to those I know I can write to fairly easily, for instance, without needing to buy an item to be signed, get foreign stamps/IRCs etc.
I do need to get a move on with my letters to more senior celebrities though!

Well, I have done in writing to James Earl Jones. If I would list loads of people whos autographs I want, he would probably not be the first one that crops in my head. The main reason I wrote to him is because if he passes away then I would regret not ever writing to him.
