When I was 11 years old (1981) I had a HUGE crush on Brooke Shields. I mailed her two letters. She wrote back each time. She was young herself and still in highschool, I think. "The Blue Lagoon" had just come out. She wrote back on postcards that had pictures of her on the front. She actually wrote little messages to me and signed her name on each one. Here's the cool part. Her handwriting on those postcards is VERY neat and doesn't appear that she was in a hurry. The writing is in black sharpie. Here's why I think it's really her original handwriting:
1. The size of the writing on each postcard is different.
2. The ink from the pen is bolder on one postcard than the other.
3. I've very carefully compared her autograph on the postcards to known PSA authenticated ones and the letters are EXACTLY the same. Even her writing in the messages to me is EXACTLY unique to her handwriting.
I sent them both to PSA/DNA anyway since I want them encapsulated in PSA's clear container. That way I can frame and mat them without adhereing anything directly to the postcards. PSA will tell me what I already know and that is that the writing is, in fact, Brooke's original writing.
This is cool because if you get a current autograph from her it will likely be sloppy and VERY likely will NOT have a personal message of the length she wrote to me..
I found a little gem the other day

Wow! Congratulations! I love "The Blue Lagoon". I would have loved to have written her around the time it came out. Could you post pictures of the two postcards?
Also, at that time I know that autograph collecting TTM was not nearly as big as it is now. How did you find an address?

I will definitely post pictures when I get them back from PSA/DNA! I got the address from a fanclub magazine.HitchcockFan wrote:Wow! Congratulations! I love "The Blue Lagoon". I would have loved to have written her around the time it came out. Could you post pictures of the two postcards?

I agree, but her handwriting is surprisingly still neat and beautiful. I plan to write to her soon. I am currently looking for a photo to send. I wrote to her once before without reply. I think it may have been because I didn't include a photo with my first request.wellthought wrote:This is cool because if you get a current autograph from her it will likely be sloppy and VERY likely will NOT have a personal message of the length she wrote to me..
Very cool find though! Congrats! Treasure it, she's beautiful. {love}

That's a very nice find. It's great to have something signed by a celebrity early in their career.
