^ Obviously they do not want to be bothered with fanmail. If they don't send anything through their fanmail, agent, and VV you have the answer to if they will sign or not, already.
If you did that and "need" the autograph that bad just send to the address you think is the home address.
Whitepages might have the name you are looking for but not their home address. Often you google the addy and find an empty lot, highway, or a shopping complex. Finding a celebrity home address isn't as simple as the phone book or white pages. Heck most celebs real name isn't even their credit name. Many females are married and their legal name is different from the credit name. Most superstars specifically have their homes listed in their agent, or family members, or even their own LLC name so they don't get bothered at home.
Honestly if I get 2+ failures I just move on. It's one autograph and there are PLENTY of other stars who are willing to be good to their fans. You can't force someone into signing TTM.

Re: house addresses
I agree with chriscollector. If you don't get a reply, they don't want to be bothered. And some celebs do use other names for their home addresses.
And there are plenty celebs that are happy to reply your requests.
But I am curious, smoxsamantha, are you talking about a specific celeb??

Re: house addresses
I would. But only if a celebrity is really hard to get. Also, I wouldn't give the address I used out in this case as the private addresses of famous celebrities are extremely hard to find and I wouldn't want it to get spammed.
The addresses of retired wrestlers and not that hard to find and usually the only way you can get a success is using their private mail address.
If Johnny Depp was signing via private address it would have become spammed quickly.

Re: house addresses
I've sent to one who I know quite well now - I lived very near to him and about 50 miles from his "fanmail address" and it came up in the yellow pages, so I gave it a try and got a great success! We met IP at a later point and now we're friends!
