Autograph regrets?

Unread post by margotchanning »

Have you ever written to anyone for an autograph or purchased one and then wished you hadn't?
This has happened to me twice! I purchased a personalised autograph from the Katie Price (Jordan) official website in 2008 as I was a big fan of hers back when she was with Peter Andre! Now, after the way she's behaved recently, I hate the sight of it and I regret buying it! I also purchased an autograph from Danielle Lloyd's website just before the Celebrity Big Brother racism scandal! I actually threw that one away at the time!!

Am I the only one or has this happened to anyone else? :D

The only request I regret sending is the one I sent to Will Ferrell. It came to my attention only after I sent that he doesn't sign TTM, generally. Oh well. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Authentic successes TTM: Jay Leno, Bob Barker, Jim Tressel, Katee Sackhoff, Hugh Hefner, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lucy Liu, Pawn Stars, Alex Trebek, Katy Perry, Steve Carell, Oscar Nunez, Lynda Carter, Jeff Foxworthy, Craig Ferguson, Jenna Fischer, Alan Jackson, Nancy Cartwright, Summer Glau, Edward James Olmos, Creed Bratton, Jewel Staite, the Mythbusters build team

I don't have any regrets about sent requests, but I do have a few regrets about wishing I'd sent to people who are no longer with us.

My main regret, when it comes to autographs, is when I've had to part with some due to financial hardship. I was really scraping bottom at one point and I ended up having to sell several that I really liked. The worst -- I wish now I hadn't sold it -- was a Death on the Nile photo signed by Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury, and Maggie Smith. It definitely helped to let it go, but I wish I still had it.
2014 Successes:
Tom Baker, Patrick Stewart (vv), Peter Cullen, Robin Atkin Downes, Jenna-Louise Coleman, Trace Beaulieu, George Lowe, Joe Dante, Willem Dafoe, Jeffrey Brown, Maurice LaMarche, Alan Oppenheimer, Penn & Teller (last success 10/14/14)

DITTO! I kick myself so many times for not taking an hour or so and putting a request together for many people who have passed away. :(

Oh, man. I have a Death on the Nile mini-poster signed by two of the three (no Bette Davis, which is the most valuable of course). I feel your pain.

I haven't gotten one and wished i hadn't but i have regretted not getting one. A few years ago dave matthews was in West Palm Beach, FL to play a show and we were going to it. So a day or two before the show me and my dad went to this ice cream shop we always go to that is right across from the ritz carlton. while there we ran into dave matthews and talked to him for a while. i guess it was such a suprise we didn't think to get the camera out of the car and get a pic with him after we finished our ice cream or to get something signed. i still regret that to this day. :( :( :(

My worst was not really the actor's fault. I thought I was sending to Sir Christopher Lee as it showed an actor with the name Christopher Lee was appearing in a play in New York. I rushed and sent out a letter, about a month or so later I saw the SASE come back and was really excited when opening it - when I did it , it was from some other Christopher Lee, pretty much mocking my letter and saying all the cast enjoyed reading it, also received a signed photo from him. That was ripped up and put in the bin, I remember being really angry about it and considered stopping collecting. I guess it's technically my own fault but I just wish I hadn't sent it.
