Dont take my advice on this one, but I think that might be a bit too far.

I've never done anything like that. A friend of mine has written poems to celebrities.

It's not a good idea. As far as I know, all of the agencies would consider it "unsolicited materials" and would reject it. You would then risk the chance of not getting a success since they would most likey return the whole package to you. Or in some cases they would simply throw it away. The big reason why they would reject it is to avoid a potential lawsuit.

I've sent poems before but not songs! That would be a bit too weird if I were writing an actor or something! If you send your music to artists in the hope they'll get you a break, you're wasting your time!! I know someone in the music industry and he has no influence over who his record company takes on even if he wanted to help someone!
