Do you consider it special to get pre-prints?

Hi,
I was wondering if you mind getting pre-prints. (I know everyone would rather get authentic autographs, though.) Do you think it's still kind of special? Are they good enough for you? Is it worth asking for an autograph from someone when you know you are going to get a pre-print? (I'm new to collecting autographs..I'm still learning how this all works. )

Pre-prints are (in my opinion) not autographs, they are copies of an autograph and therefore not a part of my collection. I do have a large file (more than a thousand) for pre-prints but (to me at least) they have no value other than my use to compare and contrast with a real autograph.

I agree - for me personally they are worthless. But these are just two opinions. There are plenty of people here who LOVE pre-prints and consider them a great success. And that's great if that's for them - we're all different and we all like to collect different things. It's how YOU feel that's important.

Special To Me Is When The Celeb Actually SIGNS The Photo and Doesnt Have an Assistant Put the PP in the Envelope For Them...So No Pp's Are Not Special in ANY Way... Good Luck in Collecting.

Not a fan of Pre Prints (especially when you've sent something to be signed), but they are better than secretarial autos!

Receiving a pre-print ttm is like going to a restaurant and placing your order, only to be served plastic food. It may look like what you ordered, but it isn't very satisfying.

i agree pre prints are heart breaking to get through the post when exspecting authentic but i would be happy either way because its better then getting nothing at all so im yes and no with this question

I'd rather get a preprint than nothing at all so I'm not left wondering if it's ever going to come one day, that way I can try another address. I don't see a preprint as special though. An authentic autograph I'd keep forever, a preprint I'd probably trash someday.
