Wow.
I'm just seeing this now and so I'm assuming everyone is aware that Canada Post is back to work (I'm not saying their strike is over, because they were never on strike). It is shocking that almost everyone who posted including the original poster had no idea what they were talking about and were not aware of the facts. I'm sure everyone here is glad that the mail is back but the fact that to get the mail back a very dangerous precedent has now been set that could negatively affect any Canadian who ever again is a member of a union, is very disturbing to thousands upon thousands of Canadians.
Remember folks, some things are more important than autographs.

Re: ATTN: All members Re: Canada post strike
Actually i know exactly what i was talking about.first off they were on strike they were doing rotating strikes which is still being on strike they just chose to still deliver the mail 3 days a week but the other 2 they were on strike so you have no idea what you are talking about and the reason the government locked them out was to put a stop to it so canadians could get their mail 5 days a week again.They thought they could hold the mail hostage to get more money and better benefits and the government chose to do the right thing and i hope it sends a message to other greedy union workers to be happy with the already high wages and good benefits they have and stop striking so much. Unions are a thing of the past like the door to door mail delivery is slowly becoming too. So dont tell me i am not aware of the facts i am i just disagree with your opinion and thats what it is its an opinion not facts you have. Only union workers care and most people are not part of aunion and they are tired of union workers asking for way too much for doing what is oftten just a simple job like delivering mail.Now that the government did the right thing small businesses who count on the postal system can start making money again ...Good job harperMarkd wrote:Wow.

I don't wasnt to get into an argument, but you are wrong. They were doing rotating stroikes, not by day, but by city, and only major cities. For example Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston, etc. all had their mail disrupted for 1 day, not 1 day a week , 1 day total. Secondly, this wasn't about wanting higher wages, this was about protecting the wages they already had. Canada Post is planning to pay new employess, less than what current employees make, its simply a matter of fairness. As well Canada Post is planning on implementing new measures that makes the job of mail carriers and sorters more dangerous and the union opposes this. In addition you say only union members care, and most people aren't in a union, also not ture. Personally, I am not a member of a union but I certainly care, as do thousands, probably millions of Canadians. So you want facts, here is a fact: The legislation passed by the Conservative Government took away a right guaranteed to Canadians. As well it appears that the government is most likely going to move towards privatizing Canada Post, so yes, if you like higher prices on stamps, less locations to deliver to, and no government regulations then you're right;

It would be diff if it was a private company but the government has the right to do what is best with taxpayers money which is who pays for canadapost.I dont see how mail sorting machines could make things more dangerous for anyone,what it will do is put mail sorters out of work which is the real issue.I think it should be privatized anyways because then the mail will show up faster and in better condition because it will be a private contract so they will work harder and faster to keep the contract and the workers will work harder to keep their jobsMarkd wrote:johnnylightninglives wrote:Actually i know exactly what i was talking about.first off they were on strike they were doing rotating strikes which is still being on strike they just chose to still deliver the mail 3 days a week but the other 2 they were on strike so you have no idea what you are talking about and the reason the government locked them out was to put a stop to it so canadians could get their mail 5 days a week again.They thought they could hold the mail hostage to get more money and better benefits and the government chose to do the right thing and i hope it sends a message to other greedy union workers to be happy with the already high wages and good benefits they have and stop striking so much.
