Re: Sharing
Not to start a fight but you don't see a difference between a venue address that is no longer valid (because the show is closed/the star has left/concert is over) and a private address that still works if only someone would just share it?
I do. One doesn't work even if it's typed in caps and one would work but is being withheld.
There's no reason to share the former cuz it wouldn't work anymore. So with a dead venue address - i don't think it's bragging. it's just a matter of - I got this success - sorry you were too slow the addy is dead. try to get the star at another venue - at least we know they sign.
with a private addy - if someone posts but doesn't share the address - it doesn't help the rest of the forum - so the only motivation behind the post appears to be to brag.
just my opinion.

Favorite Film/TV Autographs: Robin Williams (Not Secretarial), every James Bond 007 actor from film and TV, every actor/stuntman (and actress) to ever play Jason in Friday the 13th film series, and every man to ever portray Superman on the TV, film, radio, stage, video games and in animation.
Favorite Rock/Metal autographs: Van Halen (Dave/Eddie/Alex/Mike), Van Hagar (Sammy/Eddie/Alex/Mike), Helloween, Savatage (all members including Criss), Overkill, Stratovarius, Manowar, Arch Enemy, Steve Perry, Journey with Arnel Pineda, Chicago (minus Robert Lamm), Peter Cetera, the Beach Boys (50th anniversary reunion lineup), Beach Boys current lineup, and Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones.
Favorite comic book sketches/signatures: Wayne Boring, Joe Shuster, Curt Swan, Jim Lee, Jon Bogdanove, Brett Breeding, Ron Frenz, Ivan Reis, Mart Nodell, Bob Kane, Carmine Infantino, Dan Jurgens, Howard Bender.

Re: Sharing
I disagree. I think it's helpful because it informs us that the person WILL sign if contacted via a private address. If you want the autograph badly enough you'll look for it yourself.

But hardly anyone gives out movie set addresses and they are valid for a couple of months.
So i don't see the difference between someone not giving out a private address and someone not giving out a movie address.
So why is it bragging by posting a success using a private address but not a movie set address ?
Again sorry if i sounded a bit rude, its just my opinion.

Re: Sharing
doesn't change my response. movie - theater - concert - if the venue is still viable - the address SHOULD be given out. That's my thought. It shouldn't be private in a public forum. The only reason not to give out an address is if the address no longer would result in an autograph - as in the venue is closed. So long as the celeb can still be reached at an address - the addy should be given out.

Re: Sharing
I share EVERYTHING besides if I use a private address which I have done about twice in 28 years OR if an artisit responds to a facebook or tweet by sending me an address in a private message - they have sent it to me as a private message so they obviously do not want everyone to have it or it posted all over facebook/twitter so I keep those to myself as well UNLESS they make it very clear it is a manager/agent address with a business name.WCKid wrote:I always thought this site was about sharing with your fellow collectors. Hope the OP heads over to the VV feedback section as many people post VV movie/tv show set successes that are still valid BUT refuse to post or even share via PM.
Maybe some people would be more prepared to share if others were BUT I do not believe at all in posting private addresses or ones mailed to me via twitter etc... and by telling you I had the success you just might do the reasearch & find the private address if you want the autograph badly enough or have been folowing that performer on twitter & they know you are a fan & give you some info too.
Thats my opinion anyway.
Thank god I have them blocked but I bet charger88 is having a field day in this thread LOL

But if you are a real fan of the actor/actress and want the address that bad then you would do research to find it?georgethree33 wrote:doesn't change my response. movie - theater - concert - if the venue is still viable - the address SHOULD be given out. Some people work hard to find addresses, so why would they post it so it can just get spammed ?
As i mentioned before posting a success using a private address is not bragging it is either showing that you can get someones autograph TTM or that they just want to share with everyone there great success, which i don't see a problem with.

Re: Sharing
If you don't know the person you really don't know what their motive for posting it is. So what if the person who posts a success using a private address is bragging? That's just them, it really doesn't take anything away from you or mean that they don't have the right to post. It's not healthy for people to get all bent out of shape about it and whine that it's not fair. Life doesn't always seem fair but there is a balance. The forum rules apparently allow people to post successes and not disclose the private address. You are a member and not the administration of this board so it's not your right to forbid fellow posters to do anything. If you don't like that people can post successes from private addresses, it's your right to look elsewhere or better yet ignore what you don't like on this board.
It's not their responsibility if you feel frustrated because you can't find the contact info or get an autograph yourself. Maybe you could find the address yourself with research. It's not the poster's responsibility to spoon feed you information. You alone are responsible for how you feel and how you react to things... even if someone else's actions trigger it.
However, it can be argued that it's a person's responsibility to respect the privacy of the celeb. That's a huge point.
Truly, since this forum is open to people regardless of age we all have to learn to get along and see past childish arguements like this. I don't intend to debate this subject.

Am I going to start getting collect calls from Austrailia soon?buffysatine wrote:I share EVERYTHING besides if I use a private address which I have done about twice in 28 years OR if an artisit responds to a facebook or tweet by sending me an address in a private message - they have sent it to me as a private message so they obviously do not want everyone to have it or it posted all over facebook/twitter so I keep those to myself as well UNLESS they make it very clear it is a manager/agent address with a business name.WCKid wrote:I always thought this site was about sharing with your fellow collectors. Does anyone else have problems with this person? Sam Hall and I don't agree on this topic but we aren't blocking each other because of it. I don't dislike him. Man, she is annoying as hell.
