Re: Writing to Prison
The simple thought anyone would even waste the paper and postage on giving a piece of trash like Lenon's killer some outside communication should have their head examined. A person who MURDERS is the most selfish piece of junk on earth, and should be immediatly put to death. The fact my tax dollars keep these people alive infuriates me. A perosn who is a drug offender, DUI repeat offender, bank robber, ect made a mistake, a momentary lapse in judgement. That man who killed Lenon planned it for months, he is sick. Writing to him is just like giving praise to JFK assasin. And Charles manson's right hand man? Horribel people, both shouldn't recieve any mail, they should eb kept in the hole, and treated like the monsters they are.

Re: Writing to Prison
Mark David Chapman is a reformed Christain, and during many interviews he praises God and apologizes for what he has done. I am always looking for unique autographs, and I knew that Squeaky Fromme was serving a life sentence and that she wasn't up for parole. I have seen many different collectors who own letters written to them, from people like Manson himself. That I can understand being risky and possibly dangerous. I never thougth of writing to him. I just thought they would be interesting autographs to have, but mainly just Chapmans.

I can see where you are coming from. I often thought about writing richard ramirez or better known as the nightstalker. His case always interested me.
Re: Writing to Prison
I see no problem with writing to people in prison. It would make a very interesting conversation piece indeed. I wrote to two people who are currently in prison Edwin Edwards and Manuel Noriega, I recieved successes from both.

I have absolutely no idea what to say about this
I am more two sided on this issue. I would love to send to people like business men who have gone through scandal's. The Enrond issue perhaps. Those kind of people are put behind bars for life and basically makes no difference. Ask them how they made the big bucks.
If its a murderer behind bars for life, thats a different thing. A) I wouldn't want them to know me and B) Why would I really care about them?
Though I agree it would be an interesting conversation, I am feel that the whole prison thing is mainly for big time celebs like Paris Hilton and all and business men in fraud and stuff. Otherwise, I wouldn't really want to write to anyone in prison.
My small opinion

Andy i couldn't have said it better myself!! Just please be really careful!!! Even though they are serving life in jail and will probably never get out, the letter could get into the wrong persons hands. Always think of yourself and your safety first.Andy316 wrote:I think it depends on the "type" of person you're sending to, to be honest.
Paris Hilton had successes from when she was in jail, and there was even a report of a success from Saddam Hussein (although this may have been a "via courtroom" success, I forget).
If its a celeb in for a minor offence (Hilton, Lohan spring to mind) then theres nothing really wrong with it. (Although I go back and forward on this subject)
However I wouldnt want a mass murderer knowing my name, let alone my address!
I dont know anything about the people you named though.
Chrissy

Thank you -Lil1- for the siggie set!
Re: Writing to Prison
It is interessting but I am not sure it is worth the risk!
I do not really see a problem when I write to somebody who is in prison in America because I doubt they will get a chance to come to Europe but you can never know!

Re: Writing to Prison
You have a point- If I was in Europe I wouldn't worry about them getting to me. I have been afraid of the letter getting in the wrong hands. Oh well- Ill probably buy from a dealer.
Re: Writing to Prison
Another option would be to get a PO Box then your real address would remain hidden!
Here in Germany you have to pay 15€ once and then you can use it forever without paying anything. I don't know how it is with other countries though and if it is really worth the effort.

Re: Writing to Prison
I've written to several Infamous people in prison and have had pretty good success. As far as worrying there going to get out and come get you because you wrote to them is a little far fetched. Watching too many horror films. You need their prison ID number, name, and address. Letters sent to the prison will be screened before given to them. Also if you enclose a sase more often than not that will be considered contraband because of the stamp having value and will be confiscated by the prison. So always add your address on your letter and just enclose a sae. You just have to hope that the person in question your writing too takes an interest in what you say and writes back. Manson was pretty decent answering his mail. I have now heard he is not allowed to receive mail. I don't know how true that is. Susan Atkins was good and so was Gacy.
